Each autumn the hillside village of Huangling in Wuyuan spreads chillies, corn and other harvest crops on round bamboo trays across its rooftops, turning the whole slope into a patchwork of red and gold.
Visitor tip: Huangling is a ticketed scenic area; the ticket includes the return cable car (¥145 peak season, ¥120 off-peak — confirm before you go).
