About Hello Nanchang
The English-language travel guide built by locals who love their city.
Why We Built This Guide
Nanchang is the capital of Jiangxi Province, a city of more than six million people sitting on the banks of the Gan River. Despite its long history—stretching back over 2,200 years—and a vibrant food culture that rivals any city in southern China, Nanchang has largely remained off the international tourism radar. Reliable English-language information is difficult to find, scattered across outdated forum posts and incomplete travel aggregator pages.
Hello Nanchang was created to change that. We are a small, independent team of local residents—teachers, food lovers, and city explorers—who believe that Nanchang deserves a dedicated, high-quality English resource. Our goal is simple: give international visitors the same insider knowledge that locals rely on every day, from the best rice noodle stalls and late-night barbecue joints to the most scenic riverside walks and the easiest way to navigate public transit.
Our Mission
We aim to be the most practical, trustworthy, and up-to-date English travel resource for Nanchang. Every article, itinerary, and recommendation on this site is researched and written by people who actually live here. We visit the restaurants we recommend, walk the streets we describe, and ride the metro lines we map out.
Our content covers every aspect of visiting Nanchang: iconic landmarks like Tengwang Pavilion and the Qiushui Square musical fountain, authentic Gan cuisine including spicy stir-fried pork (xiao chao rou), mifen rice noodles, and popcorn chicken (ji rou jia mo), seasonal events like the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Gan River LED light shows, and practical travel advice on visa-free transit policies, mobile payments, airport transfers, and hotel districts.
What Makes Us Different
