Every winter Siberian cranes and huge flocks of other migratory birds settle on the Poyang Lake wetlands around Nanchang. The season runs roughly November to March; mid-December to February is the most reliable window.
Visitor tip: The closest spot, the Wuxing crane sanctuary on Nanchang’s eastern edge, is free, but in season its core viewing zone runs on booked, capped slots — book before you go.
