3. 24-Hour Visa-Free Transit
Citizens of all countries can transit through China for up to 24 hours without a visa, provided they have a confirmed onward ticket to a third destination. Arriving at Nanchang Changbei Airport
Nanchang Changbei International Airport (KHN) is the main gateway to the city, located about 28 km north of the city center. Getting from the Airport to the City

- Taxi / Ride-hailing: A taxi or Didi ride to the city center costs approximately 80–120 RMB and takes about 30–40 minutes. Make sure the driver uses the meter.
- Metro (future): Metro connections to the airport are planned but may not yet be operational at the time of your visit. Check locally for the latest updates.
Registration Requirement
All foreign visitors to China must register their accommodation with local police within 24 hours of arrival. If you're staying at a hotel, the hotel handles this automatically—just present your passport at check-in. If you're staying at a private residence (such as a friend's apartment), either you or your host must visit the nearest police station to complete the registration. This is a legal requirement and failure to register can result in fines.

- Do not overstay: China takes visa and transit policy compliance very seriously. Overstaying—even by one day—can result in fines, detention, or bans on future entry.
- Carry your passport: You'll need your passport for hotel check-in, train ticket purchases, and entry to major tourist attractions.
- VPN: Many Western websites and apps (Google, WhatsApp, Instagram) are blocked in China. Download a VPN before you arrive if you need access to these services.
- Mobile payments: WeChat Pay and Alipay now support international credit cards for tourists. Set these up before or upon arrival, as many vendors don't accept cash easily.
